Kitchen Renovation Cost in Mississauga: What to Expect in 2026

One of the first questions I’m asked is, “How much does a kitchen renovation cost?”

The honest answer is, it depends.

Every kitchen is different. The size of the space, the cabinetry, the finishes you choose, and whether you’re changing the layout all affect the final cost.

After more than 35 years designing and renovating kitchens throughout Mississauga, Oakville and Burlington, one thing I’ve learned is this:

A good kitchen isn’t about spending the most money. It’s about spending it in the right places.

If you’re just starting to plan your project, take a look at our Kitchen Renovation Services to get an idea of what’s involved from design through installation.

What Is the Average Kitchen Renovation Cost in Mississauga?

As a general guideline:

  • Kitchen refresh: $25,000–$45,000
  • Custom kitchen renovation: $45,000–$75,000
  • High-end renovation: $75,000–$150,000+

Every project is different, but these ranges give you a realistic starting point.

What Affects Kitchen Renovation Costs?

Cabinetry

Cabinetry is usually the biggest investment, and in my opinion, it’s also the most important.

At Millstreet Kitchens, we work primarily with Decor Cabinets because they’re Canadian-made, well built, and have consistently delivered the quality our clients expect.

I’ve always believed it’s better to invest in cabinets you’ll still love in twenty years than save a little today and replace them sooner than you’d like.

Many of the kitchens in our project gallery showcase custom Decor cabinetry, along with practical storage features that make a real difference in everyday life.

Layout

Keeping your existing layout can help keep costs down.

If you’re moving plumbing, electrical or removing walls, the budget will naturally increase. Sometimes it’s worth it, sometimes it isn’t. Every project is different.

One thing I tell clients all the time is:

Don’t change the layout just because it’s trendy. Change it because it makes your kitchen work better.

Countertops & Finishes

Quartz continues to be the most popular choice because it’s durable and easy to maintain.

Lighting, hardware, backsplash tile and storage accessories may seem like small decisions, but together they’re what make a kitchen feel finished.

Where I’d Invest Your Kitchen Renovation Budget

If your budget is tight, I’d still prioritize:

  • Quality cabinetry
  • Functional storage
  • Durable hardware
  • Professional installation
  • Good lighting

You can always update paint colours or light fixtures later.

Replacing poor-quality cabinets is a much bigger job.

Common Kitchen Renovation Mistakes to Avoid

Over the years, I’ve seen homeowners spend money in the wrong places.

The biggest mistake is designing a kitchen around trends instead of how your family actually lives.

Pinterest is great for inspiration, but it doesn’t tell you whether you’ll have enough storage or if your island is the right size to work around every day.

The kitchens that still look great ten or fifteen years later usually have one thing in common—they’re practical first.

The best compliment we get isn’t “your kitchen looks beautiful.” It’s when a client tells us, “It just works.”

That’s always been our goal.
